In Romans 11, Paul charges the Gentile segment of the congregation not to be arrogant towards the Jews in the church. They were not to consider themselves special in the sense that God is ultimately the Sovereign who could be merciful or condemn. In Romans 10, Paul expresses his heartfelt confession that ALL of Israel come to Christ. He understands their ignorance and rejection of Christ's purpose. His efforts lie in the truth that "Christ is the end of the law for righteousness for everyone who believes.

In Romans Chapter 9 Paul is having to explain the paradigm shift from Covenants & Law to following the Holy Spirit. This left many questions about those in Israel, friends and family, who had not come to believe Jesus was the long-waited Messiah spoken of by the Old Testament Prophets. The main question was, "Has God rejected abandoned Israel?"

God wants an intimate relationship with every believer. The Holy Spirit is often unrecognized and ignored as He moves in our lives. The Bible tells us in many places where the Holy Spirit was aborted by the reasoning of the analytical mind. However, we can learn to be more attentive to His moving which is not in sensation or spectacular, but listening to the still small voice. The bottom line is that most people want to perform, but God wants us to respond.

Paul totally unraveled the necessity of the Law to the Jewish Believers in the Roman Church. He replaced it with the doctrine of the Mystery of Christ and the finished work of the cross for righteousness. This obviously presented an aboundance of questions. Chapter 9, 10, and 11 answers these questions and lays the foundation of Christ for righteouness.

Paul spent seven chapters of the Roman letter laying the foundation of the Doctrine on Christ. He showed that the Law was of no effect to make a person righteous. In Chapter 8, called the "Hallelujah Chapter, he shows how the Holy Spirit in the born-again life of the Believer has replaced the strict observance of the Law.

Israel is called the "chosen people of God" in every instance of scripture. They are also identified as the "elect, a nation of priests, covenant people." Paul makes this distinction throughout his ministry. He teaches the differences in God's redemptive approach between the circumcised and the uncircumcised.
